Tandem Design is looking for a part-time entry-level Industrial Designer to support active product design and development projects.
This role is ideal for a highly motivated junior designer or recent graduate with strong visual thinking, excellent sketching ability, and solid 3D CAD modeling skills. You will work directly with an experienced industrial design and engineering team on real client projects involving consumer products, medical devices, commercial products, and product development programs.
Responsibilities
Assist with industrial design concept development, sketch ideation, 3D CAD modeling, design refinement, presentation visuals, and product development support.
You may help with:
Hand sketching and concept exploration
3D CAD modeling and surface development
Product form studies and design refinement
Rendering and presentation support
Prototype review and design documentation
Research, mood boards, and visual references
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
Superb visualization skills (can visualize form with your eyes closed)
Superb sketching skills
Strong 3D CAD modeling ability
Good design sense for product form, proportion, and details
Experience with tools such as solid CAD modeling, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar
Ability to communicate design ideas clearly
Strong attention to detail
A portfolio showing sketching, CAD models, renderings, and product design thinking
Must be local to Orange County / LA area and available for on some on site work in the OC
Nice to Have
Experience with prototyping, manufacturing, consumer products, medical products, CMF, or product engineering collaboration is a plus.
